Disney was very busy overnight.  This morning Walt Disney World announced price increases for a variety of items.  Most notably an increase in prices for Annual Passholders.

Interestingly enough, Disneyland also announced price increases this morning (read more here), however the announcement included regular and multi-day tickets and Genie+ services which were not announced at Walt Disney World.

Disney did not announce these increases so there is no way to know for certain if more are coming but let’s look at what we do know.

Memory Maker

Effective today, Memory Maker pricing increased anywhere from $6-$16, depending on the type of package you purchase.   The new rates are as follows:

    • Memory Maker Advanced purchase: $169 to $185
    • Memory Maker: Regular price (during and post-vacation) – $199 to $210
    • Memory Maker One Day – $69 to $75

I love Memory Maker and have always felt that the $169 price tag was reasonable.  I am a bit disappointed to see the increase in price, especially after Disney has removed so many of the live photographers from the character meet and greets and replaced them with box cameras.  The quality is definitely not as good, and the pictures are not as memorable.  This new price tag is not totally unreasonable, but I do hope that Disney considers bringing back the live photographers with it!

Disney World Parking

Starting today, parking at Walt Disney World increased by $5.  For regular parking the new rate is $30, for oversized parking it is $35, and preferred parking, which varies by season ranges from $45-$55.

If you are a guest of a Walt Disney World Resort hotel parking is free, a good reason to consider staying at a Disney property during your vacation.

Walt Disney Annual Passes

Walt Disney World announced a $300-$50 price increase for annual passholders.  Although this is not as significant as the increases in Disneyland, they are significant.

    • Incredi-Pass: $1,399 to $1,449
    • Sorcerer Pass: $969 to $999
    • Pirate Pass: $749 top $799
    • Pixie Pass: $399 t0 $439

Walt Disney World also announced the return of all day park hopping this morning, which I am sure in their minds offsets these increases.  You can read more about that announcement here.

My clients ask me all the time how to avoid these increases.  My best advice is to plan your trip as early as possible with a travel advisor.  By doing so, you lock in current pricing and avoid these increases, and if prices go down on your package your travel advisor can help get the price adjusted for you.  Need help?  Contact me today and let me help you plan your next vacation!

In the meantime, what are your thoughts on these increases.  Comment below – we would love to hear from you.
