Disney has announced its return to Broadway! For Broadway lovers near and far this is exciting news! The Lion King will return at the Minskoff Theatre on September 14, 2021, and Aladdin will return to the Amsterdam Theatre on September 28, 2021. Tickets are on sale now.
Unfortunately, Disney announced last year that Frozen would not be returning to Broadway. I loved this musical and was sad to hear this news, I can only hope there are new things on the horizon!
Given the current COVID climate, Broadway is offering unprecedented incentives for people to get back to the theatre. Disney is also providing some packages that are truly once in a lifetime and something worth considering. Here is a quick rundown.
Service Fees – Service fees are currently being waived for both shows. For any Broadway fan (like myself) this is something truly special. Prior to COVID, I regularly attended Broadway shows and was always surprised at the final amount of my tickets. Once all the fees were added into the price, I could pay up to $30 extra a ticket and for a family of 3 that’s almost $100! If you enjoy Broadway, this is the time to take advantage of these reduced prices.
Refunds and Exchanges – Broadway is looking for ways to make its audience comfortable and build confidence in booking tickets by easing the refund and exchange policy. Guests will be able to receive a refund or exchange on their tickets up until to 2 hours before the start of the performance. This is a great incentive and one that I applaud theatres for doing during these uncertain times. Double the Magic – Disney is offering an unprecedented package to see both The Lion King and Aladdin starting at $149 per seat. The Lion King has been a Broadway hit for years and tickets have always been hard to come by. In fact, these tickets were rarely offered at promotional rates. This unprecedented package is a great way to see two fantastic Disney shows!
