Big news for Walt Disney World fans, starting January 9, 2024, Walt Disney World is ending the Park Pass Reservation system for all date-based tickets!  Here is what we know.

Starting January 9, 2024, guests that purchase a date-based ticket, will no longer be required to make a park reservation, they can just get up and go to their desired theme park!  Date-based tickets are typically sold individually as a single day or multi-day ticket, and through Walt Disney World packages, so this change will affect most guests going to Walt Disney World, with a few exceptions.

At this time, Annual Passholders, sports and convention ticket holders, and student group ticket holders will still be required to make a theme park reservation. Annual Passholders are still subject to their pass black-out dates and reservation requirements.  However, Disney did recently relax the park hopping reservation requirement and introduced “Good to Go Days” starting in January 2024.  To learn more, read our post Annual Passholder Good to Go Days Coming in 2024.

We think this is great news and hope that Disney will expand this to the other tickets that still require reservations.  Disneyland was not mentioned in this release, although we are hoping to see a similar change when packages for Disneyland are released later this year!
