Starting September 23, Walt Disney World will pause its virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios.  Guests will now use a traditional standby queue to experience this one-of-a-kind experience.

What does this mean for you?  A least for the moment guests will not need to wake up early to try to get a place in the virtual queue.  Instead, guests will now need to strategize how they want to navigate rope drop at Hollywood Studios.  Do you head to Batuu, Toy Story Land or Mickey’s and Minnie’s Runaway Railway?  It also means that guests may be able to ride Rise of the Resistance more than once in a single day – music to my family’s ears!

Although Rise of the Resistance has seen more availability in the virtual queue, especially at the 2:00 opening, it continues to fill up most days.  I expect that by moving to the standby only option, guests will see long wait times.  If this ride is on your bucket list for your next Disney World vacation, you will want to head straight to it at rope drop to minimize your wait time.  If it is your first time visiting Batuu, I recommend taking a good look at a map to figure out how to get to this attraction – of all the lands at Disney World I find this one to be a little challenging to navigate!

I expect that Rise of the Resistance will be a Lightning Lane add on attraction and that we will see more changes coming once Disney rolls out its new Genie+ and Lightning Lane process.  Until then may the force be with you!
